Impact of Generosity

Last Christmas, generous supporters with Family Partners provided Christmas gifts to over 100 Maasai families. Family Partners serves families in three major communities—Elangata Enterit, Olosirwa, and Oliogeruno where these gifts made a significant impact in the lives of families.

The Christmas gifts included ninety-six chickens, fifty-nine goats, thirty-nine bundles of school supplies, thirty-eight solar lights with charging capability, thirty-six blankets, and seventy cash vouchers valued at nearly $1,800. The gifts brought joy to the families who received them and also supported local vendors and suppliers, allowing them to share in the blessing.

Mr. Koikai’s family was one of the families impacted by this contagious giving.

Mr. Koikai’s family was overjoyed when they received a goat for Christmas. It was the second year in a row that his family of five had been gifted a goat by their family partner. Reflecting on the generosity and love of their God-given donor, they shared that they were beginning to see that this is the life we are all called to live—a life that points to Christ. Christ who gives lavishly and loves us dearly.

Mr. Koikai made this inspiring promise to the AfricaHope staff as they delivered this year’s goat to him, “I will diligently care for these goats. Next year, I commit to offering one of these goats’ kids to a needy family in my own community for Christmas.”

In conjunction with the Christmas gift distribution, there were 18 backpacks donated by a church in Oklahoma under a separate Family Partners initiative.

One man who received a backpack for his family observed all the goats and chickens being handed out. He asked the AfricaHope team if he could get a ride to the next community when they returned to town. As they rode together, the man shared his marvel and asked one of the staff a simple question, “It’s amazing to see that the families who are most vulnerable in our community are the ones who have received these great blessings! How did you know which ones were most in need?” The staff member shared with him that the God we serve intimately knows everyone’s needs and that He uses His people everywhere to provide. That’s the story of His glory!
