Christmas in Kenya

It’s hard to imagine a Christmas without the twinkling lights, a delicious meal around the table, or gifts under the Christmas tree.

While Christmas looks different for the Maasai, families still gather together and celebrate hope.

This Christmas, you can bring hope, comfort, and joy to a family in Kenya by sharing the love of Christ and sending a life-changing gift!

Naingiri Kimere is a kind and generous woman living in the Oloigeruno community. Naingiri lost her husband to the COVID pandemic, and later, a drought nearly killed all of her livestock.  Through it all, she struggled to provide for her children. The Family Partners program has offered hope and allowed Naingiri to pay for school supplies and provide for her family.

Last year, she was blessed to receive a goat, blanket, solar light, and a gift voucher as Christmas gifts through a Family Partners donor. These gifts were a beautiful way to proclaim the love of Christ and the true meaning of Christmas while improving the lives of Naingiri and her family.

Noolanyuak Depe is a 35-year-old mother of 5 children from the Olosirua community. She loves God and enjoys singing and participating in the church. Her family has been part of the Family Partners program for almost 4 years.

Noolanyuak’s husband moved to Nairobi to work as a security guard a few years ago. He earned so little money that he sold the family's goats and cattle to stay in the city and support his large family. With this resource depletion, Noolanyuakwas struggled to make ends meet.

Last year, thanks to the love and support of donors who provided Christmas gifts, Noolanyuak received a gift voucher and two goats.  She is amazed by God, who knew her situation and blessed her family with supportive donors. The goats gave her hope that she could get back on her feet by milking them, multiplying the herd, and giving back to the community that supported her.

This Christmas season is the perfect time to share hope tangibly with a family in Kenya!

Now through December 25th, you can send a locally sourced gift to make this a joyful and memorable Christmas for families like the Kimere and Depe families.

A gift voucher provides flexibility to meet a family’s most pressing needs, like purchasing food, water, cooking supplies, shoes, or school supplies.

Goats and Chickens are a crucial source of protein and nutrition for Maasai families. The meat, eggs, and milk from livestock provide essential nutrients for their diet, especially during dry seasons. Owning goats and chickens empowers families with more financial security. They can sell goats or chickens to meet urgent needs or cover unexpected expenses in emergencies or difficulties.

Blankets provide warmth in the cool evenings and mornings.

Upgraded solar lights allow children to do schoolwork after dark, and they are also portable chargers that can power and charge small devices such as phones.

School supplies like notebooks, crayons, pencils, and other supplies equip all the school-age children in the family to learn in the classroom.

Now more than ever, Christmas is a time for gratitude and generosity.  Even the smallest of gifts can truly make a lasting impact on those living in Kenya.

Would you consider giving a gift this Christmas?

Be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. 1Tmothy. 6:18
